DG Sui investigates pesticide management in Shaanxi Province

Sui Pengfei, Director-General of ICAMA, had a meeting with Shaanxi ICA on October 30, 2012, after attending the 11th Session of National Pesticide Quality Control and Analysis Technology Meeting.

DG Sui listened to the work report of Shaanxi ICA, and exchanged ideas with eight manufacturing enterprises, aiming at further collecting work experience in pesticide management, understanding the reality in pesticide production and registration management, and listening to the appeals from manufacturing enterprises.
Sui highly appreciated the management work of Shaanxi ICA on pesticide manufacturing, marketing, use and administration, and praised Shaanxi ICA for its brilliant work in promoting designated marketing stores of high-toxic pesticides and providing guidance on pesticide utilization in protected vegetable production. Such work has yielded initial results, and accumulated good experience in granting pesticide marketing permits and administration on pesticide use. He hoped that Shaanxi ICA would undertake better pesticide management in the new context given by the amendments of the Regulations on Pesticide Management, pilot programs and function adjustments.

Sui also inquired the pesticide registration, manufacturing and marketing situation of Shaanxi pesticide enterprises, listened to their comments and suggestions, and discussed on the orientation of Shaanxi pesticide industry. He fully acknowledged the efforts enterprises made in guaranteeing safe production and service.
Sui expressed that the comments and advices collected from this trip will be further pondered upon, particularly during amending those measures related to the Regulations, so as to further improve the pesticide registration system. He also stressed that pesticide administration policies should be practical and universal, and truly reflect the rational grassroot requirements of farmers, businessmen and administrators. Efforts should be made to strengthen study on pesticide management policies, to resolve the problems and listen to the suggestions of enterprises and grassroot workers, and to extend good practices in pesticide management that are highly effective and welcomed by enterprises and grassroot workers.
